Joby Reeves Reaches Finals of Sussex Business Awards 2024

Founded in 2014, CWM has established itself as an award-winning provider of face-to-face tailored financial advice, prioritising long-term client relationships based on trust, transparency, and integrity. Our commitment to nurturing young talent through SJP Financial Adviser Academy training, apprenticeships, and mentoring has led us to exceptional individuals like Joby.
Joby’s journey with CWM began just a year ago, but he has already proven himself to be the strongest mentee among hundreds we’ve trained. His passion for figures and statistics, combined with his determination to exceed expectations, has set him apart from his peers.
Despite not always seeing himself as the best student during his GCSE years, Joby made the bold decision to pursue higher education instead of following his family’s trade. This choice led him to complete his A-Levels and university studies, culminating in a first-class degree in Accounting and Finance and a prestigious scholarship for further study.
Joby’s achievements extend beyond academia. He has consistently ranked in the top 5% of his exams for financial regulatory qualifications and is on track to complete his final accreditation in pensions as a top achiever. What makes these accomplishments even more impressive is that Joby balanced his studies with full-time work at CWM, demonstrating incredible diligence and commitment.
The COVID-19 pandemic presented unique challenges during Joby’s university years, with much of his learning taking place remotely. However, he turned this potential setback into an opportunity for growth, actively seeking ways to develop his soft skills and networking abilities. His positive attitude and willingness to challenge himself in areas where he felt less confident have led to significant personal and professional development.
Joby’s promise as a future leader in business is evident in his approach to work and learning. He leads by example, showing unwavering tenacity, commitment, and attention to detail. His proactive approach to identifying industry trends and potential areas for improvement keeps both colleagues and clients on their toes.
One of Joby’s notable initiatives was highlighting the prevalence of investment misinformation on social media platforms like TikTok. He emphasised the need for clients, especially young people, to verify their sources of information and seek sound advice on investments and technology. This awareness demonstrates Joby’s forward-thinking approach and commitment to client education.
Joby’s ethical and equitable approach to financial advising aligns perfectly with CWM’s inclusive culture. He treats every client with equal importance, regardless of the size of their investment. As Joby aptly puts it, “This job is about numbers and people — and they are just as important as each other.”
Looking ahead, Joby is on track to qualify as a fully-fledged financial adviser in early 2025. He aims to continue his career at CWM, working with a bank of specialised clients while further developing his expertise and interpersonal skills. Joby’s specialist interest in investments, particularly in technology and combating social media misinformation, positions him as a valuable asset in the evolving financial landscape.
